  • an ed tech that has no understanding of EDM and/or math program.
  • Should we have some PD meetings dedicated to ed tech training?

  • Pull together writing samples to look a expectations.

    • Blue - advance (above 75% on pre-test)
    • Red - struggling (below 70% on the post-test)
  • math practices - best way to get there?
  • RTI - what does it look like
    • after school - targeted for specific standard.
    • before school - 20 x 4 days a week.  If it is facts, then we need to do more background work, how to use resources well.
    • Smartblock - facts group? targeted based on a few specific standards.
    • Molly W - topic of the week. Invitation to kids early in the week who need that topic and they came afterschool one afternoon (Thursdays)
    • Choose kids based on STAR and in class data. 
    • Quarterly groups.  ends Jan 23, ends April 3, ends May 30ish)
      • what skills are super important?
        • 6 number skills standards.
      • using resources really well.
    • Molly's will have standard to me at the end of the week.

    • 5th grade began this work last year.

K-12 Math Task Force - info for mentors.  They did not know about it and are OK not joining but want to be kept informed of progress. Maggi and I will represent NYMS.

Added meeting dates for:

Mid year computation assessment:
  • 5 or 6 questions
  • 25 min
  • data collection

Math Fact/Computation lab;
  • algorithms
  • gr 4 - partial products/ partial quotients
  • gr.5 - partial products and traditional mult/ partial quotients
  • addition - partial sums or traditional
  • 2 days in a row per grade 
  • Wed. - make up day? reserve day?
Fact benchmarks:
Grade 5
0-2 exceeds
3-5 meets
6-9 does not meet
10 or more, does not meet

Grade 4
100-96% exceeds
95-90- meets
89-81- partially
below 80- does not meet

Report Cards - not many exceeds, if they do they are for kids who are consistently stellar.

gr. 5 - Writing and reasoning can get 4s more frequently.

Goals:
  • improve our IXL connections (release time?)
  • Want to look at the following units more in-depth to better meet the needs of CCSSM:
    • positive/negative number unit - remove but beef up order of operations (unit 7)- gr 5
    • Fractions unit - unit 7 and 9 or measurements, grade 4
"Itunes u" course- Sheila has a geometry one called Basic Geometry.
